ARTIST INFO

Jennifer M Ryan lives in Captain Creek, Queensland and runs two small businesses ‘Agnes Water Adventures – through time’ and ‘Jennifer Ryan Consultancy Services’. Jennifer’s photography has been recognised at the Captain Cook 1770 Festival Art Show and is represented in the Crow Street Creative Art Gallery and in several private collections across Australia.

Despite painting, drawing and sketching daily, Jennifer only recently clarified the type of artists she is. Discovering Marcel Duchamp emboldened her to challenge, more readily, the art worlds preoccupations with ‘what art is’. She experimented with the concepts of Art le Brut. AbEx and contemporary art, using watercolour, acrylic, soft and oil pastels, oil paint, chalks, pencils and collage.

To build a life outside the world of art, she demanded research, investigation, experimentation of herself. Jennifer mixed and matched, molded and managed beliefs about what art is to discover the type of art she needed to create.
